MY FRIEND EDWARD

(I write to honour Adebisi Adenipekun)

My friend Edward is a great man!

The name ‘Edward’ is very new as it was given you only yesterday, by my newly beloved Personal Assistant, at Dental Pharmacy, while you were battling with paragraph spacing of your report on the just concluded REHP-Project.

We’ve come a long way bro, and it’s crystal clear that our friendship is beyond the coincidental meeting of a very gentle guy and a hyper active dude (well, that’s me - though I’ve cooled down overtime) on the 6th of November, 2006, during our part 1 registration. Our paths have been clearly mapped before the foundations of the world were laid. How else would you explain how we became friends? Or how we agreed to share a bedspace in part 2? I really don’t remember but I’m convinced it was a working beyond us both.

Over the years, you have taught me and exemplified true friendship. By your openness, you taught me to share. My love and respect for you is ever increasing. I could have added here, just as I do say, that if you were a woman, I would marry you, but for fear of unprecedented knocks from T Mystery, I'd rather keep that thought to myself.

You remember how we walked the green lawns beside Fajuyi hall lower buttery that night, when you shared with me a dream you had about ZOO 101? I still remember and every time I do, I cannot but thank God for His sure mercies. Do you remember those divine experiences we had? How we trusted God for food, and a congo of rice + tomato paste appeared on our bed? Do you remember how we got so busy with our different endeavours that we couldn’t catch a toad over the weekend for our Monday morning PCL 201 dissection, and a toad hopped into our cupboard on Sunday night while we were cooking? You remember it was our miracle toad that saved the day for group B during the practical class when other toads gave irregular readings on the kymograph?

You remember how we talked about HPAI, iCreate, and how we created logos of many colours. You remember how we needed Great Faith for laptops, to improve our productivity in the things which we believe we were created to do?

Now, your God, your Lord God whom you serve diligently has brought you out by His Mighty Hand indeed. He has seen you through all those days of uncertainty, overwhelming tasks, disappointments from unexpected sources and so on. He has brought you out with huge testimonies, a humble heart and a strong will to take this gospel round the globe. It’s amazing how you have stayed true.

Now brace up bro, because the same Mighty Hand that brought you out of pharmacy school is ready to lift you at a pace that can only be attributed to Him (you know how our Father does His things in ways that cannot be ascribed to any man). The sudden turnaround that you experienced in the last few months is nothing compared to the lifting that is to come. Get ready!

Just in case you’re wondering what inspired this writing? It was your last sms to me. You have not seized to inspire me to look forward and smile. And indeed, we will donate billions and see to the propagation of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.

Let pharmacy arise and receive this great man into the noble profession.

My friend Edward is a great man, and I’m proud to be associated with you!

  3. This is supposed to be a short comment.... Even if not, no amount of space can contain your worthiness "Mystery" nor can words articulate your blessedness... Our first real encounter was under a tree @cufcs conference in Uniilorin 2009, which became a monumental meeting in my life and my life will never be the same again... Many things and forms I've seen you become to many so that you might at least influence some positively, You've been all to me at different times, even in many ways you have no idea of... I'm forever grateful you came into my life, vI'm constantly challenged by your special personality, I'm really glad for the opportunity to say this @this juncture of your life, I have no doubt the world is set to reel under your influence even to generations to come... A man of unusual discipline, a man of unequal vision, a man of great compassion, a man of unfathomable inner strength, a man of uncommon grace, all these I say without flattery, I say what I've seen to be true and I lie not in the spirit.. Oga Bisi Bisi, I bless God for your life, I thank God for this induction, I trust God for greater strides and height.. Love you much... Congrats sir

  11. Adebisi, a friend I had heard tons about even before I had the pleasure of setting my eyes on him.Your special patience with my ever vivacious friend Abayomi is evident with the quiet way you carry yourself. Indeed opposites do attract. Surely, you are a man going to happen big to this generation. I can never forget the quiet smiles everytime I poked fun at you and the sometimes naughty remarks that makes me want to beat you all. D short while I have known you, I could never have asked for a better friend for Abayomi. Happy induction and enjoy adding "Pharm" as a prefix to your name.

U wre d link that held us 2gether and am privileged 2 be one of ur friends. Sometimes I cannot help but wonder at ur strength. With u, I realised that strength is not a gift to hefty men but to men who are full of love- whose concern is 4 d wellbeing of others. I don't know the inspiration behind the name 'Edward' but it fits u perfectly. It means wealth protector. God only commits wealth to those who are faithful in little. Bisi, u deserve immeasurable wealth. God bless u and works of ur hands.

Adenipekun Adebisi Bidemi, your calm and cool way of handling situations amazes me, my first encounter with you was on a note of academic advice, I remember you once charged me using the exemplary life of Joshua and Caleb as a foot note to always put into consideration while I needed advice about the stories of "ife pharmacy" back in my 200level now in my 500level I can bodly say it's been GOD. I celebrate you sir and I love you. Wishing you all of God in you life purpose

  22. If you are a fun-loving person like me, your first impression of him might be that of an uptight and a "don't mess up with me guy", but boda Bisi as I call him is someone I'll describe as warm-hearted, honourable and goal oriented. He has a sense of responsibility and passion for the less privileged that is amazing. Having done a few stuff with him, I'll say he's inspiring. Bisi, you are blessed with a wisdom that the world needs, Im certain you are going places and will go beyond the induction of today till you get to the very top. I would borrow this from a friend and say that Bisi is a friend to be kept beyond the walls of the university and its a privilege knowing a great man as him.Congratulations friend!

Bisi is one of the few newly qualified pharmacists that i met in Ile-ife who have made a different impression on me (Yomi is another..). Bisi is hardworking, diligent and creative. He helped out with our workload at the IHVN pharmacy despite being there for another reason. He didn't mind spending extra time doing this. He is also quite detailed...a trait which is scarce in these parts. congratulations Bisi..may you continue to grow in the grace of our Lord and may you be a mighty tool in His hands.

  29. You have burnt the midnight oil,
You've been charred by daily toil,
Even in the face of the harshest tribulations,
You've somehow created an occasion for jubilation,
    Failing and passing,
    And passing and failing,
Lessons learnt, the hard way sometimes,
Territories conquered, often with His might,
    Like a warrior, you've undergone,
    The toughest of drills,
    Of practice and pummeling,
    Of mistakes and routine,
    Of perfectionism and submission,
Inching closer in bitter academic hustle,
    To the eldorado,
    That tear-driven moment of ecstacy
    When that trophy gets hoisted,
    And you scream in victory,
    'Veni! Vedi!! Vici!!!'
In the assurance that 'one day one day'
    'Maga musy pay'

    To you Adebisi Adenipekun
The world stands in awe of your achievement!
Product of sheer resilience, grit and determination.
    Congratulations dear colleague!
